House of Assembly Bill No 6; A bill for a law to establish the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority to consolidate and harmonize all gaming activities and related laws in Lagos State, to provide for the regulatory and control of all gaming activities and other connected matters”, scaled through the second reading and was committed to the House Committee on Finance to report back in 2 weeks.
Discussing the merit of the Bill, Hon. Rotimi Olowo, one of the co-sponsors of the bill said the bill is apt and it will increase the revenue generation of the State if properly done. He said it will also protect the under-aged children. Adding that the State will be able to stop the subvention of the Lagos State Lottery Board and use the money for other State matters.
Hon. Desmond Elliot, said the relationship between the Federal Lottery Board and the State Lottery Board should be given priority.
Supporting the Bill, Hon. Jude Idimogun said the issue of addition should be looked into since the bill seeks to repeal the 2015 Lottery Board law.
Hon. Richard Kasumu said he wants them to seek to redress and to collaborate with the State Ministry of Youth and Sport concerning sport gaming.
