FCCPC Shuts Abuja Chinese Supermarket over Discrimination against Nigerians

The Federal Competition and Consumer and Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed an Abuja-based Chinese supermarket situated at the China General Chamber of Commerce over discrimination against Nigerians.

Officials of the FCCPC stormed the premises and shut the supermarket on Monday after interrogating Nigerian workers at the supermarket.
Nigerians, had on Sunday, expressed outrage over a discriminatory policy implemented by managers of the Chinese Supermarket.
Specifically, the supermarket only granted exclusive entry to Chinese nationals in the country but barred Nigerians.

The facility manager of the complex, Shaibu Sanusi, said that Nigerians from outside the complex do not shop but Nigerians within can access it.

The workers, who were largely Nigerians, disclosed that the owner of the supermarket, Cindy Liu Bei, fled the premises when the officials of the FCCPC stormed the supermarket on Monday morning.

Subsequently, the FCCPC officials sealed the supermarket.
