TROOPS NAB WANTED BOKO HARAM COMMANDER, KILL TWO OTHERS

Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have arrested a Boko Haram commander on the army’s wanted list of suspects at a displaced persons camp, Banki, Borno state. Banki is a border town with Cameroon, and 126 kilometres east of Maiduguri, the state capital. In a statement; released on Sunday in Maiduguri, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Texas Chukwu; disclosed that the arrested suspect, Maje Lawan, is on 96 of the wanted list of Nigerian Army. According to him, the wanted Boko Haram commander was arrested, after infiltrating the camp at Banki. “The suspect is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be handed over to appropriate authority for further action,” said Chukwu. He urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious persons, movements and activities to law enforcement agencies for prompt action. In a related development troops of 222 Battalion deployed in Operation Lafiya Dole killed two insurgents in an ambush operation in Malari village of the state. He said the operation, which lasted for over three hours on Thursday; forced the terrorists to flee into Sambisa Forest and nearby bushes. According to him, the troops also recovered 10 bicycles from the fleeing insurgents.
