The National Population Commission (NPC) has said that two local government areas are to be captured for the “enumeration demarcation” exercise in Borno state.

According to the Commission, the insurgency affected Local Government Areas for demarcation include Abadam and Guzamala.

The NPC’s Federal Commissioner, Isa Audu Buratai, disclosed this, yesterday (Wednesday), in Maiduguri at a breakfast meeting with media executives.

He lamented the incessant attacks on NPC personnel at Bosso, in Niger Republic, while they attempted to demarcate Abadam council for the population and housing census.

Buratai, said: “We’ll imagery capture all the Boko Haram destroyed houses and other buildings.

“With the improved security situation in the hard to reach areas, the enumeration demarcation exercise will be completed.”

He stated that President Bola Tinubu will thereafter; announce new dates for the census, as it was shifted and not postponed by his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari.

He attributed the Census shift to the coincide of the Presidential, National and State Assemblies general elections on February 25 and March 18, 2023 with the announced dates for the national head count.

“This will allow Tinubu to be part of the Census in the country,” said Buratai.

While reviewing Commission’s preparedness, he said: “With the development of the head count strategies, about 23, 000 ad hoc staff were trained in the 27 local councils.

“Since 2014, NPC has expended N200 billion, including the procurement of 800, 000 customize Samsung Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) devices.”

He explained that the PDA device with each of the enumerator; has everything required for a credible and acceptable population and housing census.

“If an Enumerator is in a wrong EAD, it will not work in capturing the households and buildings,” he warned.
