Amao, Lawan, Buni Strategise To Fight Boko Haram In N’East

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Isiaka Amao, Senate President, Ahmed Lawan and Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state have strategized to check resurgence of terrorism in Northeast. While raising from Monday’s extensive security meeting in Abuja, Governor Buni called for intensive ground and aerial patrols in fighting Boko Haram insurgency in the state.The consistent aerial patrols with fighter jets could check the resurgence of insurgency that claimed many lives and property.On overcoming security challenges, the Governor said: “There is a need for increased synergy between the security forces in the collective fight against insurgency. “The Air warfare is very crucial in surveillance, flight and Air cover to ground troops.” Continuing, he added: “Today’s meeting was to brief the chief of Air Staff and re-assure him of the support and cooperation of the governors of the North East end the 12-year war.

“We are all committed to seeing the end of this ugly scourge which has lasted for over a decade. “This terrorism has claimed many lives, destroyed many properties and consumed our people’s means of livelihoods.” He commended Sen. Lawan for his support to the fight against insurgency. The Governor had recently met with the Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Leo Irabor, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and the Commandant General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps; Abubakar Audi. He said the meetings were necessary to support and encourage the security agencies to intensify their campaign against terrorism in northeast. Buni in his meeting with the Service Chiefs last week, assured the support of his administration to the security operatives to effectively fight terrorists.
