Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have killed two Boko Haram terrorists
with the recoveries of several Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and
motorcycles; in an ambush to clear remnants of insurgents in early
hours of Sunday at Forward Operation Base, Mainok of Borno state.
Director Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen Sani Usman disclosed this on
Sunday in a statement issued to journalists in Maiduguri.
He said that several explosives were also recovered on the road side
of Banki route junction, near Bama and located on Northeast flank of
Sambisa Forest.
The statement reads: “The terrorists were ferrying logistic items to
their colleagues in the forest. The ambush team neutralise two Boko
Haram insurgents and recovered their weapons, including two
motorcycles, jerry cans and guinea corn flour.
On recovered explosives, he said: “Similarly, troops of 151 Battalion,
21 Brigade Nigerian Army on routine clearing of bushes to facilitate
movements of troops discovered multiple IEDs. They were connected
together and laid on the shoulders of the road at a suspected
terrorists ambush site of Banki road junction, near Bama.
“The troops successfully disconnected and recovered them in demining
some of the border roads in Borno state.”
