CLAMP DOWN ON FAKE TYRES

Fear grips importers of fake tyres as standard organisation of Nigeria, begins clamp down on their warehouses.

Scroll Report learnt that many of them have shut down their warehouses for fear of their tyres being seized.
They sell codely to their trusted customers for fear that some officials of SON may pose as a buyer and arrest them.

The clamp down followed the arrest of two chinese who imported N 5 billion fake tyres Osita Abolona, SON, Director General, described the tyres seized tyres as dead on arrival saying allowing the sale of such tyres in the country amounted to “surreptitiously taking away the lives of million of Nigerians”.

The tyres are stuffed into one another, separated in a crude manner and stored with very poor facilities.
