SOME POLITICIANS WHO DO NOT MEAN WELL FOR BENUE STATE ARE ARMING POLITICAL THUGS- POLICE

 The Benue State Command wishes to inform the general public that, information at its disposal reveals that, some politicians who do not mean well for Benue State are arming political thugs with prohibited firearms for selfish aims.
 The commissioner of police, Cp. E.Ene Okon, therefore, warns all the people of the State especially politicians, to desist from illegally acquiring, distributing and using arms, for whatever reason and to shun any act capable of disrupting peace in the State.
 He advises politicians to eschew violence in their electioneering campaigns, as anyone caught illegally bearing and their sponsors would be severely dealt with accordingly to the law.
 In the light of the above, the command has achieved some breakthroughs in the past two weeks as follows:-
1. DEATH OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT/RECOVERY OF WEAPON
  On 02/09/2018 at about 2330hrs, distress call was received and Police operatives in Ukum were immediately mobilized to the scene, where a gang of robbers were operating, as the team approached, the hoodlums opened fire and in the ensuing exchange, one of the armed robbers was gunned down while others fled. A locally fabricated pistol with two (2) expended and two (2) live cartridges were recovered from the dead robber. Investigation is ongoing to arrest fleeing suspects.
2. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECT:
SUSPECTS: Aondowase Emberga
  EXHIBIT: Army Camouflage Uniform
   Following reported cases of armed robbery along Makurdi-Lafia road, FSARS operatives deployed to the road to checkmate the activities of these hoodlums, had an encounter with the hoodlums on 07/09/2018 at about 0230hrs leading to exchange of gunfire.
   The team while combing the surrounding bush in the morning, arrested one Aondowase Emberga wearing military camouflage uniform with gunshot injury on his leg. He confessed to be a member of six (6) man gang who earlier exchanged fire with security personnel. Investigation is ongoing to arrest other fleeing members of the gang.
3. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBERS:
   SUSPECTS: Hon. Joseph Egbe, Austin Elaigwu
and Austine Enejo
 EXHIBITS: Four (4) Single Barrel Revolver Guns
  FSARS Operatives on 14/09/2018 at about 2000hrs, while on patrol in Otukpo town arrested one Hon. Joseph Egbe who claimed to be a Vigilantee leader of No. 6 Rice mill road Otukpo, with one fabricated Single barrel revolver gun.
  On interrogation, he opened up to source of the gun and led to the arrest of one Austin Elaigwu of Otukpo town, further investigation led to the recovery of three (3) additional arms and the arrest of Austine Enejo.
4. RECOVERY OF LIVE AMMUNITION AND ARREST OF SUSPECTS:
 SUSPECTS; Abah Dedon Kena, Aldous Amabo, Obono Ubi, Ibor Bassey and Obeten Sunday.
EXHIBITS: Three hundred and Seventy Eight (378) ammunition of various caliber, a telescope two (2) knives and assorted charms.
    On 18/09/2018 at about 2300hrs, Operation Zenda Operatives on stop and search along Adikpo-Ugbema road intercepted the following persons: Abah Dedon Kena, Alfous Amabo, Obono, Ibor Bassey and Obeten Sunday in a black Toyota Camry car with Reg. No. FST 51 AR LAGOS. Upon search, the following items were recovered: three hundred and seventy Eight (378) live ammunition of various caliber, a telescope, two (2) knives and assorted charms. Investigation is ongoing.
5. ARREST OF SUSPECTED ARMED ROBBER AND RECOVERY OF FIREARM
SUSPECTS: Terungwa Tyowua
EXHIBIT: One locally made pistol.
Police operatives in Gboko on 22/09/2018 at about 1200hrs, while on patrol responded to a distress call and arrested one Terungwa Tyowua 25yrs with a locally made pistol. The suspect was trying to rob a female victim of her belonging she she raised alarm which attracted the police patrol team and the young man was arrested.
6. ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS, RECOVERY OF ARMS AND A STOLEN MOTORCYCLE.
  On 21/09/2018 at about 2100hrs, Operation Zenda Operatives while on patrol intercepted one Aondowase Yese and Terhide Iorsase both of Ugbema in Buruku LGA with two (2) locally made pistols, two (2) live cartridges and one (1) Honda Motorcycle. The suspects confessed to have snatched the said motorcycle from a motorcyclist on gun point along Ugbema-Jato Aka road.
  All suspects would be charge to court as soon as investigation is concluded.  Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police assures the good people of the state, of the Command’s renewed resolve to ensure that crime is  brought to its barest minimum.
        SUMMARY
