GAIDAM URGES ELECTORATES COLLECT PVCS TO ELECT CREDIBLE LEADERS

Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has urged people to collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs), before the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) exercise with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) expires on August 31, this year. The Governor made the call on Tuesday in message to mark Eid-el-Kabir celebration at Government House, Damaturu. He said registering to own PVCs, is the guaranteed means of electorates elect their “credible and responsible” leaders in the forthcoming general elections in the state. According to him, elected leaders; will effectively use powers of representations to make good decisions on the yearnings and aspirations of people at the state and national levels. He also stressed the importance of registering with National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), urging the people to obtain their national ID cards. While calling on Muslims to relate effectively with other faithful religions and humanity for peace and unity, he warned the people not to take their security for granted, but continue to be vigilant with neighbours. He urged the people to concentrate on doing good things to their neighbours, orphans, the poor and needy in society. “We must make sacrifices in order to strengthen our collective endeavour for the attainment and sustenance of a harmonious, peaceful, disciplined, fair, just and cohesive society,” said Gaidam. The sacrifices, according to him, was to uphold ties that bind Muslims, followers of other religions and all fellow human beings by showing natural inclinations through respect, kindness, love, generosity and trust. He said the acts of sacrifice being made during festive period symbolize the willingness to give up on things and bounties that are of benefit to people and others. “We should share the good things we have with our neighbours, the poor and the needy among us in the spirit of brotherhood,” he said. Gaidam also pledged to continue with his service delivery through the implementation of his administration policies and programmes, until Wednesday, May 29. 2019. According to him, the execution of projects and other programmes in the last six years are geared to make life more meaningful to people. Continuing, he added: “As we are approaching the last lap of our administration, our focus shall continue to be geared towards consolidating the improved security situation in the state, completion of ongoing projects and giving attention to the task of post-insurgency resettlement. He said the post-insurgency resettlement, include, rehabilitation and reconstruction through effective and efficient collaboration with our development partners and other stakeholders.
