BORNO SQUARE SHADE COLLAPSE KILLS ONE, INJURES 125 PEOPLE

The Deputy Governor of Borno state, Usman Durkwa, has Wednesday sympathized with victims of collapsed shade, while President Muhammadu Buhari was recently addressing supporters of All Progressive Congress (APC) at Ramat Square, Maiduguri. Over 100 people were last Monday injured and admitted at State’s Specialists Hospital, Mamman Shuwa Memorial and Umaru Shehu hospitals. According to Durkwa, one of the admitted victims gave up the ghost on Monday night. He explained that some of the victims sustained multiple fractures, because of stampede and fallen roofs of shades, while the President was addressing people at the square last Monday. He said he came to the hospital to sympathize with people that various degrees of injuries. He noted that out of the injured, 70 were treated and discharged by the hospitals According to him; “It is unfortunate that some of our party supporters and Buhari die hearts; were injured in the collapse of shades, while the President was addressing APC supporters and stakeholders at Maiduguri Square. “On behalf of Governor Kashim Shettima who had to travel alongside Mr. President to Abuja for the National Council of State Meeting, we had to visit the hospitals to condole/sympathize with the victims and their families.” “It is our prayer that God will grant eternal rest to the soul of the deceased, while the injured ones have quick recovery.”
