NIMASA Redefines Commitment to Excellence in Maritime Service, Introduces Service Charter

The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has unveiled its Service Charter, affirming its dedication to serving the nation, the maritime sector, and its stakeholders at the highest standards. The Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, praised NIMASA’s efforts in enhancing service delivery in alignment with the objectives of the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Representing the Minister, Babatunde Bombata, Director of Maritime Safety and Security, applauded NIMASA for adopting technological advancements and modernizing its operations to enhance productivity and stimulate sustainable growth in the maritime industry. He lauded the Service Charter as a testament to NIMASA’s commitment to delivering world-class service and fostering an environment conducive to the growth of the marine and blue economy.

The Service Charter signifies NIMASA’s renewed pledge to service excellence, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. It serves as a public commitment to providing high-quality, efficient, and transparent services to stakeholders and the general public, while also ensuring accountability and setting clear expectations for performance measurement.

The Minister highlighted NIMASA’s recent agreement on Ministerial Deliverables, emphasizing the importance of the Service Wide Priorities in enhancing service delivery across the maritime sector.

Senator Wasiu Eshilokun Sanni, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, pledged the committee’s full cooperation with NIMASA in securing funding to achieve its objectives and urged the agency to strive for excellence on both continental and global scales.

Nnenna Akajemeli, National Coordinator of the SERVICOM Office in the Presidency, commended NIMASA’s exemplary service delivery, making it a role model for other government agencies. She praised NIMASA’s Customer Experience Center as a benchmark for improving government-citizen connectivity.

Dr. Bashir Jamoh OFR, Director General of NIMASA, described the Service Charter as a significant milestone in the agency’s commitment to redefine service delivery standards. He emphasized NIMASA’s dedication to elevating service quality, embracing innovation, and fostering a culture of excellence.

The launch event was attended by dignitaries including Hon. Uduak Odudoh, Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Maritime Safety, Education, and Administration, Commodore Duja Effedua (rtd.), Rector of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron, among others.
