BUNI SIGNS TWO BILLS FOR YOBE HEALTHCARE DELIVERY SERVICES, MONITORING

Governor Mai Mala Bun of Yobe state has signed two bills for the establishment of State’s Emergency Medical Ambulance Service (YEMAS) and the healthcare delivery service monitoring to the door steps of residents.

The health agencies are also; to inspect and monitor the delivery of healthcare services in the 178 wards across the state.

Assenting the bills into law, yesterday (Wednesday), in Damaturu, the Governor disclosed: “The laws are to boost healthcare delivery to our people and victims of road accidents.”

He added that the two agencies are to “provide and monitor” healthcare facilities based on the global best practices.

According to him, the Medical Ambulance Services (MEAS) would provide an opportunity for first aid treatment of victims of road accidents, before they are evacuated to hospitals for treatment.

Besides, he added that the Health Facility Inspection and Monitoring Agency (HFIMA) empowers health authorities to inspect and monitor services provided by the health workers.

“This will prevent the rendering of substandard healthcare services to the people by cutting corners in healthcare delivery.

He, therefore, warned the health workers not to compromise at the primary and tertiary health institutions in the state.
