Buni Donates N16M To Legions for Keeping the Country Indivisible

Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has donated N16 million to the Nigerian legions for their sacrifices to keep the country indivisible.

According to him, the military and other security agencies have performed credibly with gallantry in securing people’s lives and property.

While presenting the N16 million cheques on Friday, at the launching of 2022 Emblem Appeal Week in Damaturu, the Governor disclosed: “The supreme sacrifices of Armed Forces were during the first and second world wars,” as well as the civil war including the over a decade Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.

Besides, he added that the nation would continue to hold the retired soldiers in high esteem.

“Today, we are honouring the retired soldiers with this token for their collective sacrifice and patriotism in keeping the country indivisible,” he declared.

He, therefore, reiterated the importance of mobilising more resources to the security agencies, so that they could overcome the challenges of protecting people’s lives and property.

He noted that this will also overcome the challenges of modern combat operations in the six geopolitical zones of the country.

He assured the state government will continue to support the military and other security agencies for the restorations of peace.

Besides the N15 million, the Governor personally donated N1 million to the State chapter of the legion to mark its week.

The Secretary to the State Government, and the Head of Service announced their personal and collective donations from Commissioners, Permanent Secretaries and Special Advisers in support of the legions in the state.

The State chairman of Nigerian Legionnaires commended the Governor for his support and concern to the welfare of members since he assumed office in May 2019.
