Directing the Ministry of Health and Chief Medical Director State’s Specialist Hospital, Dr. Laraba Bello on Friday to immediately employ, Zulum disclosed: “The dearth of doctors is a matter of great concern to people’s lives and wellbeing.”

He, therefore, urged them to work for the State Government and serve the interests of the vulnerable poor in various communities.

According to him, the state government is ever ready to support the newly engaged medical doctors.

Such support, he added, includes the provision of an enabling environment for them to progress in their respective careers in Nigeria and abroad.

“I won’t mind sponsoring some of you, after serving the state government for certain years for their consultancy services in the country,” he said, noting that there is no compulsion, but to work for either the federal and state government.

On salary bridge disparities, he said that the government has already closed the salary disparities between the two governments for doctors in the state.

Explaining that; “The salary bridging was to retain all the doctors serving in various hospitals and clinics.”

He warned that if the doctors are not willing to work with the State Government, they should not bother themselves to be engaged.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health, Dr. Mohammed Ghuluze assured the Governor that the doctors are to be employed with immediate effect to save more lives.
