The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, has tasked frontline Commanders master the conducts of wide range military operations against terrorists and bandits in the country. According to him, troops must master the art of night operations and anti-ambush drills by engaging in effective night operations and anti-ambush drill training.
Yahaya gave the task at the closing ceremony of the Chief of Army Staff Conference held at the weekend in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. He also directed the troops to take the fight to terrorists’ and bandits’ camps and ensure they are defeated to end the 12-year Boko Haram insurgency in Northeast.
He said: “Commanders must look at the possibilities of conducting wide range of operations at nights against terrorists and bandits. According to him, the frontline Commanders must ensure that their troops master the art of night operations and anti-ambush drills.
Continued; “Our troops should unfailingly engage in an effective night operations and anti-ambush drill trainings to end terrorism and banditry in Nigeria.” Stating that the troops must take the fight to the adversary in neutralising them to end the over a decade war.
He therefore urged the Commanders to develop what he described as; “contingency plans for our forces to always retain and sustain the initiatives in all theaters of operation across the country.” He added that the troops “must take the fight” to the adversary in order to neutralize and defeat them. While speaking on the violent state actors in 2022, Gen. Faruk tasked the Commanders to plan against the possible increase in the activities of violent state actors that have claimed many lives and property.
He ordered the troops that while conducting their operations, they must also be proactive and aggressive to defeat the adversary in any part of the country. Besides the proactive measures, he added that troops must ensure that their deployments in the theaters of operations are held in strength to defeat any attack.
Gen. Yahaya therefore assured Nigerians that next year; there would be visible signs of improved security across the country. He therefore warned sponsors of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers to desist from their nefarious activities that have claimed a lot of life and property.
