“We are targeting 10,000 irrigation farmers from the Hawul Basin in the 2022 farming season,” he said. He warned the farmers against selling the inputs; as a monitoring team has already been set up to check diversion and sale of inputs. Inuwa Kubo, the Committee Chairman of Borno Mega Farms (BOMF); disclosed that the dry season farmers were provided with fertilizers, water pumps and agro-chemicals, as well as the distribution of seeds for corn and rice. He said the registration and support of wheat farmers from the three Councils will commence in December, 2021. He therefore urged them to harness the rich agricultural resources in River Basin to boost production of wheat for domestic and industrial uses.
