YOSIEC fixes October 30 for Geidam by-elections

Date:

The Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC), has fixed October 30, 2021 to conduct by-election in Geidam Local Government Area, While announcing the elections over the deaths of two councilors in Geidam, Chairman of the Commission, Mamman Mohammed said the October by-election, is in line with the provisions of State Electoral Act. He lamented that on Friday, June 4, 2021, there was a sad report on the death of two councilors, Hassan Bukar Mairami and Yusuf Mustapha.

According to him, Mairami and Mustapha respectively, represented Ashekri and Hausari wards in the Geidam Council. He added that the deceased councilors died in an auto crash to create a vacuum which should be filled with forth coming bye-elections. He therefore urged political parties to abide with the rules and regulations of the electoral process at the polls.
