Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has been excited over the complete resettlement of over 5,000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) into the Gulani community. The Community had been attacked severely by Boko Haram insurgents in 2014, displacing residents to take refuge at Damaturu and Kukareta IDP camps. Buni expressed excitement Sunday, when he paid a condolence visit to the families of the deceased Council Chairman, Ahmed Musa. He described late Musa as a committed administrator who had sacrificed for his people during the 12-year Boko Haram insurgency. “The resettlement and livelihood restorations of IDP returnees was successful to sustain peace in the various communities,” he said.
Excited with the resettlement exercise of the State Government and other development partners, he said that farming activities, trade and commerce have increased in Bara and other communities. According to him, this is a welcome development in restoring peace in the insurgency affected councils of Gulani and Gujba. The Governor applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment to eliminate terrorists in the Northeast. He also appreciated the security agencies for their resilience in the fight against insurgency.
