The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has re-arraigned Dookenger Takon before Justice Umaru Fadawu at the Borno State High Court. While reading the charges Friday in Maiduguri, Justice Fadawa said that the four-count amended charge borders on cheating, forgery and obtaining by pretense of N12.8 million. Even though Takon was first arraigned on October 28, 2020, she was re-arraigned along with her company, X-traordinaire Designs Ltd in Maiduguri. The defendant however; pleaded not guilty to the four-count charges. The prosecution counsel, Mukhtar Ahmed informed the court of the amended charge and asked that the defendant be invited to take her plea. Justice Fadawu therefore granted the prayer of the prosecution, and she pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
Ahmed, informed the court that the second prosecution witness was in court and ready to continue with the trial. The defense counsel, I. H Ngada pleaded with the court to adjourn the matter to enable him to study the amended charge. Justice Fadawu; therefore adjourned the case till October 6, 2021, for the continuation of trial. He ordered that Takon be remanded in the correctional facility of Maiduguri along Baga road.
