The Yobe State Commissioner of Works, Umaru Wakil Duddaye has pledged to rebuild the collapsed bridge linking several communities in the state. The Garin Gada/Tarajim Bridge was destroyed in last week’s flood; cutting off communities along the 150-kilometre Potiskum-Gashua Road. While inspecting the Bridge Tuesday at Garin Gada, the Duddaye disclosed: “We’ll soon reconstruct the collapsed bridge linking the two communities in Nangere Local Government Area. He also re-affirmed the commitment of the Buni administration towards improving the livelihoods of affected communities.
He said that the state government will continue to construct more roads and drainages to facilitate commuting and haulage of farm produce and livestock.“These will improve the living conditions in rural and urban centers,” he said. He therefore urged motorists to ply the road with caution, as 50 percent of the bridge has been washed off.
