Kawuri is 60 kilometres east of Maiduguri, and attacked severally by insurgents between 2014 and 2019. Confirming the neutralization Monday in Maiduguri, the Acting General Officer Commanding, 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen. Continuing, he added: “Besides credible information from the people on the movements of terrorists, we were able to intercept their communication and devilish plans to attack Maiduguri and other communities “Their evil plans were thwarted when the Nigerian Army launched an Artillery gun bombardment within the general area.” He said the ground troops struck the mass gathering of the terrorists killing at least 40 of them, while others escaped with gunshot wounds towards the forest.
