Borno To Build N2 billion Motor Park Project For Commuters, Others

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has laid the foundation for N2 billion modern Motor-Park along Bama road, Maiduguri. The park when completed, comprises a local market and other facilities for traders and market women. While laying the foundation on Monday in Maiduguri, the Governor disclosed: “The new Bama Motor Park in the metropolis, costs the state government N2 billion,” noting that the park was to decongest the old facility in Mairi ward. His words: “In order to decongest the present Bama Motor Park and in fulfilment of our promises during the electioneering campaigns, we resolved to embark on the N2 billion project. “Today’s motor park project will gulp N2 billion to complete for our commuters and traders.”

He also announced that a mega school will be built on the site of the present Bama Motor Park as soon as the new one is completed by the contractor. The project supervisor, Engr. Usman Monguno, the project supervisor also said that the motor park facility consists of lockup shops, bus terminal, market stalls, washing area and toilets.    He said a total of 373 lock up shops and 220 market stalls will be completed on the site which covers 4.9 hectares of land. The Commissioner for Commerce, Lawan Kareto also told newsmen that the contractors are to complete the project in 18 months. “Anybody who fails to finish before then will not get approval for his contract documents,” he warned. He added that the project, when completed, will benefit residents of Maiduguri metropolis, including motorists and commuters.
