Zulum Lauds Military To End Insurgency In Northeast

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has lauded the Nigerian Army to end Boko Haram insurgency and restore peace in Northeast. The over a decade long insurgency has claimed 40,000 lives with property worth $9.2 billion (N3.42 trillion) in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe states. Zulum lauded the Army at the weekend in Biu, Borno state, while presenting the staff of office to the emir of Biu, Mai Mustapha Umar Mustapha II. “I sincerely commend the efforts of the military in ending the Boko Haram insurgency that has claimed many lives and property in this state,” he said. He also praised the Armed Forces, other security agencies, vigilantes and members of the Civilian JTF on their recent successes recorded, while fighting insurgents from the enclaves of Sambisa Forests and Lake Chad region. On leadership fighting qualities of two Service Chiefs, he said: “Let me commend the Chief of Army Staff, Chief of Air Staff and their Directors and principals in the military high command, the theatre Commander, the GOC, sector commanders, brigade commanders, commanding officers, men and officers in theatre of operation, the police and all other security agencies working in Borno for the support they have rendered.” According to him, the collaborative rendered support, has not only secured the territorial integrity of the nation, but to return 1.5 million IDPs to communities.
