Troops of Operation Lafiya Dole have destroyed seven gun trucks of Boko Haram and Islamic States for West Africa Province terrorists along Gajiram/ Maiduguri road in Borno. They also rescued dozens of women and children in a road ambush, while commuting from Monguno to Maiduguri metropolis, the state capital. Confirming the incident yesterday (Thursday) in Maiduguri, Bukar Audu, a Civilian JTF member disclosed: “The terrorists laid an ambush in the Gajiram/Monguno axis road on Wednesday by 1pm. According to him, the insurgents in seven gun trucks attacked commuters in the Ari/Gambouru/Gasarwa axis along Monguno road. “After getting credible intelligence, troops stormed the scene; where they had a fierce gun battle, killing some of the terrorists,” while others escaped in two gun trucks with gunshot wounds. He said the terrorists attacked motorists and commuters in seven gun trucks to rob them of their personal items, including handsets and money. He said besides destroying gun trucks, five others with sophisticated weapons were also captured in the road ambush.
