Foundaation donates ambulances, face masks to Yobe

The BUA Foundation has donated ambulances and face masks to the Yobe state government to fight the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. The donated vehicles and materials include three ambulances and 100,000 face masks. According to the State Government, the pandemic in the last five months; claimed 471 lives of people in Potiskum, Nguru, Bade and Damaturu councils. While presenting donated items on Tuesday in Damaturu, the ex-Minister of State for Health and Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aliyu Idi Hong said the donations are part of efforts to fight and control the spread of virus across the country. He noted that over N8 billion worth of COVID-19 material support was made to fight and control further spread of the disease. Governor Mai Mala Buni lauded the Foundation for its humanitarian support to control further spread of the pandemic that has claimed many lives. “You’ve been supporting us in many ways; especially in the post-insurgency recovery programmes to restore IDP returnees’ livelihoods. He described the donations as apt, as the second wave of pandemic has devastating effects on people’s socioeconomic activities. He also thanked the foundation for all the humanitarian assistance rendered to the state and northeast region. According to him, Yobe state is one of the worst hit states of the decade long Boko Haram insurgency. “Your numerous contributions to our post insurgency strategy is quite commendable,” he said. He therefore charged the people to always adhere strictly to the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control COVID-19 protocols.
