A gang of suspected Boko Haram terrorists in four gun trucks Saturday attacked Askira town, killing two residents in Borno. According to Anaryu Madu, an eyewitness, the insurgents burst from Sambisa Forest by 7pm and fired sporadically to scare many residents to flee into the bush. Askira, a Council Headquarters, was severely attacked by Boko Haram, displacing many people along their monarch between 2014 and 2016. While narrating the attack and clash with troops at military post, Madu disclosed that; “We were taken aware of terrorists’ attack yesterday evening. “They burst from forest along the Mbalala road to attack us in four gun trucks and motorcycles;” lamenting that many of the residents, including women and children had to flee into the bush for safety. He said during the sporadic shootings, two people were also killed, with several others sustaining injuries while fleeing their homes. According to him, the Army also lost an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and patrol motorcycles, while repelling them along the Askira/Uba road. He noted that during the two-hour repulsion, two terrorists were killed. He added that many residents slept in the bush and returned yesterday morning without losing any life.
