The CGC Nigeria construction firm; is to complete the 46.3-kilometre
Cham/Numan road in Adamawa and Gombe.
The road awarded at N7 billion by federal government; links the two
states to Savannah Sugar company and border communities with Cameroon
and Taraba state.
Announcing completion of abandoned road Saturday in Yola, Adamawa
state, the Federal Controller of Works, Salihu Abubakar, disclosed:
“this road has been in deplorable condition for about two decades.”
He said that the federal government approved N7 billion for the urgent
rehabilitation of the Cham/Numan road.
According to him, the completion of abandoned road by CGC; will link
Savannah Sugar Company and plantation, including border communities
with Cameroon in Adamawa and Taraba states.
“Work on this road project, was however, was delayed due to
insufficient fund,” noting that approvals to complete it, was part of
palliative cushion hardship of transporters and commuters plying the
abandoned road.
He continued; “The resumption of work; is coming as a result of rainy
season; which halted work on road project, thereby worsening its
already deplorable condition.”
He therefore, urged travelers using the road to be patient and
exercise caution during the rehabilitation work.
The project site manager, Xu Hua attributed the snail speed of
completing road to non-release of funds
