The Borno State Government is to partner Tukur Buratai Institute (TBI)
to train youths and 1.8 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDP)
returnee fight poverty and employment.
Unfolding the joint designed template and programmes for peace
building and development of communities on Friday in Biu, Governor
Babagana Zulum disclosed that; “We’re doing everything possible to
fight unemployment and poverty among youths.
“After the over a decade long Boko Haram insurgency, we will implement
post conflict reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlement of 1.8
million returnees with the TBI.
According to him, the designed template, will deal with peace
building, cohesion and stability of insurgency affected communities.
He said the state government will interface with the institute of war
and peace, with a view to train the teeming population of Borno.
He said the target of partnership with TBI, was to fight unemployment
and poverty to their barest levels.
On youths’ restiveness, he said: “We’ve taken appropriate measures to
forestall future occurrences of youth restiveness in the 27 councils.
“What we need is that, we want youths to be engaged in technical and
vocational education,” he said, noting that this could empower them,
by acquiring various skills and trades.
