Obi at Sallah calls for deep reflections. …….says Post COVID-19 era worrisome.


The Vice Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the 2019 general election, Mr. Peter Obi has said that the solemn period of Sallah presents ample opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on the discomforting situation in the country. Obi said in a message to Nigerian Muslims to mark the Eid-el-Kabir festivities that the situation in the country is worrisome and calls for special supplications. He said that the economic uncertainty in a Post COVID-19 era is such that should disturb every discerning minds as he urged Muslims to reflect on the future of the country as they celebrate. Obi said that if nothing should worry us as a nation, the blood of thousands of innocent souls being wasted daily in our land at various troubled spots should be enough mitigation to plead to God to save this country from destruction. According to Obi in a message from his media office, Nigerians should also use the period to offer fervent prayers for the unity and stability of the nation which is seriously under threat due to poor leadership. “Intense prayer for our country has become very necessary more than ever before as our nationhood is in dire need of divine intervention to survive, especially with the fresh challenge of the global COVID-19 pandemic and its accompanying consequences “Our economy is already under stress, the Post COVID-19 era is not going to be unpalatable, Obi remarked. The one time Governor of Anambra state noted that this Sallah period coming at this critical time in our national life, provides the citizens an opportunity to put aside every political, religious and ethnic sentiments and unite against their prevailing common challenges. Obi finally wishes all Nigerians joyful and peaceful Sallah celebrations.
