Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; has approved two sites for the
building of mega fuel stations in Maiduguri metropolis, the state
capital
According to him, the mega stations project sites; are located at
Yerewa and Ngomari, near the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Base along
Damaturu road.
While announcing takeoff of projects Wednesday in Maiduguri, he said:
“The state government is determined to enhance the distribution of
petroleum products, after completion of mega fuel stations.
“Their completion; will also meet increasing demands for petrol and
diesel (gas) and empower public institutions that rely on electric
generators for water supply and distribution, hospitals and street
lighting.
“We’ve also procured these three trucks to be transporting petroleum
products to our fuel mega stations that will completed soon,” noting
that this will ease the hardship associated with scarcity of petroleum
products.
While receiving the Governor at Borno State Supply Company (BOSCO),
its General Manager, Umar Mohammed, assured company’s readiness for
the takeoff of mega fuel stations.
He told the Governor that the rehabilitation and upgrading of fuel
station at Government Reservation Area (GRA); has reached an advanced
level.
He said that fuel will not only be distributed in metropolis, but
extend supplies to other Local Government Areas that are relatively
peaceful.
“Your Excellency, we assure you 24-hour services when fuel
distribution commences,” he said, adding that BOSCO’s Supermarkets
will also be resuscitated for distribution of other products to
marketers.
Zulum had on April 4, 2020, during a meeting with stakeholders in
petroleum sector announced the building of four mega fuel stations in
the state.
He was at BOSCO to assess its level of preparation towards the takeoff
of the filling stations.
