Borno COVID Response Team Tests 55 Index Contacts With Nine Positive

The Borno state high-powered response team on prevention and control
of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease has tested 55 contacts with nine
positive.
Out of the 11 contact samples sent in for testing, the index patient
died today (Wednesday) in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
COVID-19 response team Chairman, Umar Kadafur, who doubles as the
Deputy Governor, disclosed this Wednesday in Maiduguri; while updating
journalists on tracing more contacts of index cases in Pulka and Biu.
According to him, out of the 55 traced contacts for testing, 11 were
indicated positive of the coronavirus disease.
While speaking on the index case in Biu, he said: “Our team has
reached 80 per cent of contacts tracing in Biu, but the index case
died, after returning from Kano through Gombe last Monday.
On challenges of response team, he said that there were some
resistances for COVID-19 testing exercise in Maiduguri metropolis and
Jere council.
He however noted that the traced contacts that resisted testing; were
handed over for counselling during the 14-day mandatory
self-isolations.
