Date:

The national leader of Afenifere Ilosiwaju Yoruba, Pa Senator Ayo Fasanmi has congratulated all the ministers as they assume duties to take charge of their respective ministries having been assigned by the president. A statement issued today in Oshogbo by the nonagerian, who is also the oldest surviving senator of the Federal Republic, said President Buhari has done well by coming up with great Nigerians of various callings and backgrounds to work with him and his vice as well as hitting the ground running by the immediate allocation of portfolios. Pa Fasanmi is of the hope that the cabinet will justify it’s mandate by taking Nigeria to the next level as envisaged by Nigerians. According to him, nothing should cause any rancour amongst them and they should work as a team. He also reminded the president and his new cabinet to know why the party was elected for the second term, saying a workable synergy must be adopted between the party leadership and the legislature. He advised that a meeting of the president, the legislators and party caucus must be immediately established without fail. The statement which was signed by the chairmen of the Media committee of the organization, Chief Biodun Akin -Fasae said it is important that the party as the driver of the government should not be relegated to the background when important policy decisions are being taking because it is the party that will be defending such policies. It has to be very clear from the onset that the party should not be treated as a second fiddle in governance. Pa Fasanmi congratulated all the ministers from the South West and urged them to be great ambassadors of the Yoruba nation. He said, he would very soon develop a template for building of concessus on how to move the zone forward with the least acrimony because it is when there is unity that progress, peace and development can be achieved. He called on the ministers to work with their governors to the benefit of the Yoruba people and not to see themselves as competitors. There should be no Abuja politicians this time around, the statement concluded. Signed Chief Biodun Akin- Fasae. Chairman, Afenifere Ilosiwaju Yoruba. 21/08/2019*
