2019 ELECTIONS : PDP ACCUSES SYLVA, KODJO OF UNLEASHING VIOLENCE ON NEMBE BASSAMBIRI

Former Governor òf Bayelsa State, Chief Timipre Sylva, and an oil Surveillance Contractor in Nembe local government Kodjo Sam allegedly led thugs to shoot throughout Friday night with the intent to seize electoral materials for Nembe Local Government Area.

The State Chairman òf the PDP, Chief Moses Cleopas, said in a statement that Sylva and Kodjo continued the violence and hijacked materials for seven wards in Bassambiri and the ones for Oluasiri, Nembe Local Government Area on Saturday morning.

Moses said that the rampaging thugs allegedly aided by soldiers on deployment in the area have taken the hijacked electoral materials to Darius Hotel, Bassambiri for thumb-printing.

He urged the security commanders to demonstrate their avowed impartiality by proceeding to Darius Hotel, Bassambiri, where the electoral fraud was taking place.

The PDP Chairman called on the Indepedent National Electoral Commission, (INEC) to note the violence and the thuggery in the area and cancel the election in the affected areas.

He stressed that no voting was taking place in the seven wards of Bassambiri.

He said that the thugs who have seized electoral materials for some wards are in pursuit of supporters of the People’s Democratic Party in the area.

He urged the Army authorities to investigate the activities of their men on deployment in Bassambiri axis of Nembe Local Government Area as the officers and men allegedly claimed that they were acting on orders from above to protect and work for the thugs.

He also urged the commanders of the Army and other security agencies to protect the lives and properties of innocent PDP supporters under grave threat in the area.

He recalled that one Kenneth Adeboh, a thug, was killed in a crossfire in the shootout on Friday night while three others who received various degrees of gun shot wounds were taken to the hospital at the nearby Ogbolomabiri.

Moses who condemned the violence in strong terms said that supporters of the PDP are now taking refugee in the nearby Ogbolomabiri.
