BURATAI INAUGURATES HEROES DRIVE TO STRENGTHEN PERSONNEL, OTHERS IN BORNO

Date:

Jutha Gupah, Maiduguri

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai has inaugurated the Heroes Drive to strengthened personnel and management of infrastructural facilities at the Maimalari Cantonment and barracks. Announcing completion of two-kilometre driveway on Monday in Maiduguri, Buratai lamented that prolonged usage and exposure of road to adverse weather conditions has dilapidated it for over a decade. According to him, the road runs from the Cantonment main gate and terminates at the Roundabout that leads to Headquarters of Theatre Command and 7 Division and other parts of Cantonment. He said this gave birth to the road project that was considered a priority in the Army’s infrastructural development plans. Buratai, who was represented by Theatre Commander, Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj-Gen. Abba Dikko said: “The construction of the Art Holding Facility at the Joint Investigation Centre, Maiduguri, was to apply human face to the war on terrorism and insurgency. “This road will bring succour to officers, soldiers and their families in the Cantonment. It is therefore tagged: “HEROES’ DRIVE” and dedicated to officers and soldiers both living and the dead. “They have served and are currently serving in Northeast Theatre of operation against Boko Haram insurgency.” He said the application of human face, is carried out through an effective management of arrested terrorists suspects. He said that the detained insurgents under custody are undergoing investigations at Giwa Barracks.
