SHETTIMA WINS APC SENATORIAL TICKET IN BORNO

Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno state has clinched the ticket to contest 2019 central senatorial district election on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC). Shettima scored 2, 735 votes to defeat Alhaji Ali Wurge that polled five votes at the concluded primary elections held at El-Kaneni Sports Centre, Maiduguri. Declaring the election result on Thursday, Chairman of party’s primary election committee, Ahmad El-Marzuk said that has fulfilled the conditions of APC flag bearer to contest the senatorial election. He said the election was conducted peacefully, without any hitch from both delegates and security personnel during the election. In his acceptance speech, Shettima said: “With my emergence clinch the senatorial ticket for APC to contest Borno central senatorial district, I will do my best at next year’s senatorial polls. “I’ll also protect, promote, project and preserve the interests of my constituents in the district at all levels.” According to him, the district comprises eight Local Government Areas, including Maiduguri metropolis. He said that with his seven-year experience in governance, the unmet yearnings and aspiration of people will be redeemed within four years.
