FG, OGUN SIGN MOU ON N810 MILLION SCHEME

The Federal Government and the Ogun State Government have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), on partnership for expanded water supply, sanitation and hygiene, towards improved water supply in the state.
Minister for Water Resources, Engr. Suleiman Adamu, signed the MoU on behalf of the Federal Government, while Governor Ibikunle Amosun, signed on behalf of the state, at the Arobieye Water Supply project in Ota, yesterday.
Amosun, in his address, said the scheme, when completed, will increase the current carrying capacity of water supply to the people by 100 percent, noting that it will attract more investors to the state and by extension increase the State’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
He expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for initiating the scheme and  commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his commitment towards ensuring the delivery of dividends of democracy to generality of Nigerians.
Speaking,  Adamu disclosed that the project is aimed at delivering 15 million litres of water to residents of Ota and its environs daily
He put the cost of the project at N810m, which he added, will be expended to resuscitate the water project, that has been abandoned for over 30 years, disclosing that financing is on a 50/50 ratio, between the Federal and the Ogun State governments.
The minister, who said Ogun was the first to respond, out of the 22 states, that were shortlisted for the project, commended the Amosun administration for living up to expectation.
