EX-BORNO MILAD APPLAUDS DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS, DESPITE BOKO HARAM INSURGENCY

The Ex- Borno State military administrator, Col. Abdulmumini Amimu (Rtd) has applauded the leaps of development projects, despite Boko Haram insurgency that claimed many lives and property in the state. In the nine-year insurgency, several communities were attacked, with the displacement and resettlement of over 1.7 million Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in various camps of Maiduguri, the state capital. Aminu spoke on Monday in Maiduguri, in an interactive session with journalists commiserate people of Borno over insurgency and attend wedding ceremony of daughter of a businessman, Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi. He said that despite Boko Haram insurgency, there were a lot of development and infrastructural facility projects in Maiduguri metropolis, His words: “In spite of this insurgency that claimed many lives and property, I have observed a lot of development projects that were destroyed by Boko Haram. “The few projects I have seen on ground, especially the built secondary schools with computers and air conditioned classrooms, are very amazing.  No University can boast to claim these development projects. “I appreciate these projects of Governor Kashim Shettima. It is amazing that the development has taken place so fast across all 27 the Local Government Areas.” He prayed that the people will elect another resourceful and committed person in next year’s general elections. He said the people of Borno state want a class and type of Governor Shettima to keep on with the good works of rebuilding the insurgency destroyed state. “This is to maintain the developmental projects tempo of efficient and qualitative governance for prospective state in the Northeast,” he noted. Aminu however rebuked Nigerians for their persistent failure to appreciate the development and service deliveries to the people. He lamented that people in most cases don’t appreciate the efforts of government in providing development projects and service deliveries. He explained: “It is only in Nigeria that everything is being provided to the people. But they still complain. “We have to understand that governance; tries its best to work for the people, while they should also play their roles and ensure government efforts are sustained to be appreciated.” He said the people have to change their attitude towards government and reorient themselves to align with the focus of government. He warned that failure to appreciate government’s development projects and services, the people will continue to face problems in the country. Aminu also commended the federal government, armed forces and the police in the efforts of fighting Boko Haram insurgency that claimed many lives and property. “Fighting insurgency is the most difficult type of war. It is not easy; government has done well,” he noted. He rebuked the people for lackadaisical attitude towards helping Federal Government expedite action end insurgency. “Government has been urging people to report questionable characters among them to military and security agencies, but the people failed to respond,” he said.
