BIOLOGY NOW COMPULSORY FOR ALL SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN KWARA STATE

  The Kwara State government says biology subject will be made compulsory for all students in both public and private secondary schools across the sixteen local government area of the state from next academic session                                              

 The Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Mariam Garba dropped the hint in Ilorin the Kwara State capital while speaking with VON.                                       

    According to her, the idea was adopted from Lagos State Education Policy to ensure that every secondary student have elementary knowledge of science subject.

 Hajia Mariam, admonished all School Heads and Teachers to be proactive in the discharge of their primary assignment and guide against any forms of impersonation from any quarters, urging them to report any body parading him or herself as staff of the ministry of education or federal agencies.                                     

 The Permanent Secretary, expressed dismay over the rate in which various impersonations is been recorded on daily bases in different schools across the state, calling on the schools authority and management, to wake up  and guide against the bane  towards ensuring progress and development.

  According to her, the people caught for impersonation had been prosecuted and presently serving their jail terms.                                                          

   Hajia Mariam added that the Ministry in collaboration with the State Teaching Service Commission are currently monitoring activities of schools in the state in line with the state government on policy education                      

  Ahead of the next month Mock Examination, which will hold across the state, the permanent secretary said necessary machineries had been put in place by the state government through the ministry to ensure even examination for the participant.

The Permanent Secretary, however called on private schools within and outside the state capital to desist from admitting students from outside the state to write exam during examination period in the state, lamenting that , many private schools  has turned to miracle centre’s for examinations.
