EUROPA LEAGUE: ARSENAL CONFIRM INJURY BLOW AHEAD OF CSKA CLASH

Date:

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed one injury blow for his side ahead of their Europa League second-leg clash with CSKA Moscow

The Gunners have travelled to Russia on Wednesday ahead of their clash on Thursday evening with the hopes of progressing.

Arsene Wenger’s side already have a 4-1 aggregate lead after the game at the Emirates but after Roma’s Barcelona turnaround, anything is possible.

Though, they will have to complete their clash without midfielder Granit Xhaka.

The Swiss star has flu and has not travelled with the side to Russia.

‘We have lost Xhaka, for flu, I think for us, it’s vital,’ Wenger explained in his press conference today.

‘The example last night, to focus on the performance.’

Talking about a potential slip up, Arsene Wenger has explained that the side can take motivation from the AC Milan clash.

Having given themselves a comprehensive lead in the first leg, they made sure of no complacency in the second.

Now, Arsene Wenger has called for some of the same tomorrow night.

‘It’s important for us, we’re at the stage where we focus on it.’ he explained.

We have a very slim chance to get further up. In the Europa League, it’s now a big target for us.

‘Milan is a good example for us to have a similar attitude.

‘We have to overcome not just protecting what we have built, but have a similar attitude to Milan and have a positive attitude early on.

‘It’s very important we have a positive start tomorrow.’

Xhaka isn’t the only player that will miss the game tomorrow evening.
