UCL MATCH PREVIEW: CHELSEA VS BARCELONA

Date:

March 14, 2018

The Blues take on Barcelona in the Camp Nou, following a 1-1 draw in the first leg at Stamford Bridge.

Leo Messi levelled for Barca in west London after Willian had fired the Blues into the lead.

The last time Chelsea play away at Barca, almost six years ago, the Blues scored a 2-2 draw.

If Chelsea could repeat that scoreline today, Barcelona would be dumped out the UCL on away goals.

Neither Alvaro Morata nor Olivier Giroud started in the first leg at Stamford Bridge. Instead Conte deployed Eden Hazard in the false 9 role, and the Italian is thought to be ready to roll that dice again.

Staying with Chelsea’s likely XI, there is a split of opinion regarding the composition of the back-three.

Gary Cahill has been dropped by Conte in recent weeks, but could the England international replace Antonio Rudiger in the XI?

As for Barcelona, the question is what formation Ernesto Valverde will play against Chelsea.

Valverde has been lining up Barca in a 4-4-2 system for the majority of the season, but the Times wonder if the Catalans will be slightly more attacking against Chelsea.

For what it’s worth, Mundo Deportivo’s predicted 4-4-2 setup seems more likely to be accurate.
