The Idoma Biographical Center has called on the Inspector General of Police to speedily unravel the circumstances surrounding the sudden disappearance of ace television broadcaster, Dr. Inalegwu Ode, from his Makurdi home since 5 January 2018. In a statement, which was signed by Nats Onoja Agbo, the center lamented that more than one month after the disappearance of the former staff of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA, security agencies police in Benue State were yet to issue a statement on their investigations into the matter.

According to the group, “the initial expectation was that the security agencies in Benue State would unravel the circumstances surrounding the sudden disappearance of Dr. Inalegwu Ode quickly. It is regrettable that until the time of this statement, security agencies in Benue State are yet to issue a single statement on the matter, an indication that no action has been taken on it’.

The Center called on the Inspector General of Police to and the Commissioner of Police in Benue State to step up investigations into the matter in order to assure the people of the State of their safety. “It is not right for anybody to disappear from his house without any trace, and yet the public is not aware of efforts to locate such a person”, the group said in the statement.

It also recommended that people who were close to him, including members of his family, should be properly quizzed as a starting point in the search for the missing broadcaster. While praying for the safe return of Dr. Inalegwu Ode to his family, the Center wants every Benue indigene to be actively involved in the search, adding that his return would be “a fitting Valentine’s gift to his family, and indeed the people of Nigeria”.
