LAGOSIANS’ WELFARE WILL BE MY GOAL- SANWO-OLU

Date:

Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has stated that welfare of Lagosians will be the major consideration in his decisions if elected as the governor.

Answering questions on The Verdict, a Channels Television’s political programme on Monday evening, Sanwo-Olu declared that he is confident of victory at the polls on March 2nd. He stated emphatically,”I believe I will win this election.”

The APC flagbearer said he did not sign any agreement or pact with leadership of the party not to run for second term, saying that there is only one term of four years on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s expression of interest form.

“I don’t know where the idea of pact or agreement came from. But i can tell you for a fact that there is nothing of such. I didn’t sign a deal with anyone. At any rate, there is only one term of four years on INEC form, so it will be up to the people of Lagos State to determine whether I deserve another term, based on my performance.”

When asked by the presenter, Seun Okinbaloye if he would be his own man in running the state, the APC candidate was unequivocal in his response when he said, “absolutely. At 53? Yes I am my own man”.

The APC standard bearer dismissed attempt by the People’s Democratic Party to gauge its popularity with its recent presidential campaign rally as that would amount to building a castle in the air adding that President Muhammadu Buhari and APC will win the Presidential election convincingly without any recourse to rigging or any electoral malpractices being alleged by the PDP, a party Sanwo-Olu described as the creator of the problems President Buhari is working hard to fix. .

” I think we need to understand that crowd during political rallies is not always the same as voting on election days. Although I didn’t see the Kano crowd because I was busy at my own rally about the same time, I can confirm to you that crowd is not the same as actual voting. A lot happens on election days. Mobilization of voters for example is a critical element of election. So, I’d advise that PDP should not jubilate over what they perceived as large turn out at the Kano rally.” Sanwo-Olu said.
