New Police CP Akwa Ibom State Command Creates Complaints Response Unit For Effective Policing By Emmanuel Uffot Barely two weeks after assumption of office as the 32nd Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State Command, CP Waheed Ayilara has created a Complaints Response Unit in the Command. This development was conveyed in a release by the Command’s Public Relations Officer SP Odiko Macdon. The PPRO stated that the creation of the new unit is in furtherance of the promise made by the CP during his maiden media briefing on the 12th of February, 2024, to the people of Akwa Ibom State that he will ensure a purposeful and result oriented policing strategy. Odiko said the CP is doing this in consonance with Section 131 of the Nigeria Police Act 2020, and in compliance with the directive of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun for the creation of a Complaint Response Unit (CRU) in all Commands of the Federation for effective policing. The CRU Unit (CRU), domiciled in the Public Relations Department of the Command with dedicated Lines: 09169839213 and 09123695605 to swiftly address complaints from members of the Public against the actions and inactions of members of the Police Force serving in the Command for the purpose of accountability, transparency and protection of human rights in the State. “The CP has advised members of the Public to make use of the Complaint Response Unit Numbers for complaint for enhanced service delivery. “The CP also wishes to further remind Akwa Ibomites of the Command’s Control Emergency Numbers which are 08039213071 and 08020913810. He has urged Members of the Public to make use of the emergency numbers when in distress and to volunteer information to the Police for the continued peace and security of the State”.
