FUGA GETS SIX READERS, PROMOTES 280 OTHER STAFF IN YOBE

The Governing Council of Federal University Gashua (FUGA), has approved the promotion of 40 academic staff to their higher ranks of academic profession in Yobe state.

No less than 165 Seniour non-academic staff and 75 junior ones; were also elevated during the University’s 25th regular meeting in Gashua.

The Information Head and Protocol unit of FUGA, Adamu Saleh, disclosed, yesterday (Tuesday), in Gashua that six academic staff were promoted by the Governing Council to the rank of readers.

According to him, the promotion of senior academic staff, followed the receipt of favourable external assessments report on them.

He said those promoted to higher ranks included Dr. Umar Adamu of the Biology Department, Karimu Ishola (Business Administration), Dr. Mohammed Dogari of the Department of Chemistry.

Other promoted academic staff comprised Dr. Abatcha Melemi from the Department of Economics and Development Studies, Dr. Udu Linus (Public Administration) and Dr. Jerome  Gumpy, in the Department of Computer Science of the University.

While congratulating the promoted staff, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Maimuna Waziri, urged them to work harder to justify their promotions to higher academic rankings.

She, however, warned the entire staff against any act that could tarnish the good image of the University.
