Army kills two ISWAP commanders, several other terrorists in Borno

Troops of 199 Special Forces and 222 Battalion in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have neutralises two Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) commanders in the Yuwe axis of Konduga local council of Borno state.                                                                         The troops in the joint operations also killed several other terrorists on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
The eliminated commanders were Abu Huzaifa and one Sarki that had been leading ISWAP in Sambisa Forest for about a out a decade.
A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri that the troops engaged the Boko Haram insurgents  after a fierce exchange of fire.
“They neutralized several terrorists while others withdrew in disarray with gunshot wounds,” he said.
He noted that during the onslaught, the troops also killed two of their Khaid’s identified as  Sarki and Abu Huzaifa.
His words: “The troops killed many of them and lost one of their Civilian Joint Task Force member. They recovered ammunition, a motorcycle, eight bicycles and several logistics items belonging to Sarki in the encounter.
“Sarki has coordinated several attacks in Bita, Mubi, Adamawa and Madagali for the terror group. There are other Khids like Abou Huzaifa, Abou Ubaida and  Abba Tukur, who were on the run.”
