ZULUM INAUGURATES BORNO PUBLICITY COMMITTEE FOR 2023 POPULATION, HOUSING CENSUS

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has inaugurated an 18-member publicity committee in the conduct of 2023 population and housing Census in the state.

According to him, the publicity committee was to effectively mobilize stakeholders and residents for a successful Census slated for May 3-5, 2023

Unveiling the aims of committee, yesterday (Wednesday), at the Government House, Maiduguri, the Governor, represented by his Deputy, Usman Kadafur, disclosed: “The committee is to sensitize the people on the forthcoming census at the grassroots.

His words: “There should be a general acceptance of census, as well as to mobilize additional resources to supplement the National Population Commission’s (NPC’s) budget provisions,” stating that this could ensure the implementation of advocacy for credible population and housing census.

Kadafur, who doubles as the Chairman of the committee, said the publicity committee will promote local ownership and acceptability of the census.

He added that the data generated from the census could serve as platforms for feedbacks and methodologies in planning and economic development.

Responding on behalf of the committee, the State Director of NPC, Yerima Kachallah commended the Governor for finding them worthy at the census publicity committee

He, therefore, pledged that the committee will do its possible best to justify the confidence reposed in them.
