Troops of the 25 Task Force Brigade, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have overrun an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) in the Sabon/Gari axis, killing three soldiers in Borno state.
The explosive was allegedly planted by the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on April 14, 2023 along Damboa-Biu road.
The counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, yesterday (Sunday), in Maiduguri that the troops encountered the IED during a fighting patrol between Sabon Gari and Wajiroko communities.
He said that during the incident, three soldiers sustained minor injuries from the multiple blasts.
“A Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle was damaged while the wounded troops were immediately evacuated to the hospital for medical attention,” he said.
