…Urges Ebonyians to Adopt Umahi as Sole Candidate for the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone in Appreciation for His Wonderful Works of Infrastructural Revolution and More.
Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, says the cornucopia of awards of different categories bestowed on the People’s Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. Dave NwezeUmahi, by Ebonyians, underscores the fact that the people clearly understand the very essence of reciprocating acts of goodwill.
In a statement made available to media houses, the APC chieftain said congratulations are in order to the people who deployed sound judgement in settling for Gov. Umahi as worthy of receipt of the various honours in recognition of his uncommon feats as Governor which records have not been paralleled by his contemporary in any state across the country.
He said the recognition accorded the Governor for the great feats he has achieved for the people finds validity in the words of James Allen, when he stated that ‘no duty is more urgent than that of returning thanks’.
Amongst others, the following awards and honours were conferred on the Governor for his sterling performance which has placed Ebonyi State on the world map;
- Ochendo Ndigbo” by South East Traditional Rulers Council.
- “Ike Umuokorobia 1 of Ebonyi State” by the Coalition of Ebonyi Youths
- “Nna Okwukwe Ndigbo” by the South East Christian Association of Nigeria
- “Ochendo 1 of Ebonyi State” by Coalition of Ebonyi Women.
- “Ebubudike” by the Founding Fathers and Elders Council of Ebonyi State.
To sum it all apart from the two National Award bestowed on this enigma and great Achiever of our time and that from Rivers State Government, Ndi Ebonyi honoured Governor Umahi with the highest state title encapsulated in the state honours law No 008 of 2022, with the Award of Great Grand Commander, Ebonyi Hall of Fame (GCEHF).
Eze said in a matter of days, the people of Ebonyi and Nigerians are expected to vote for the next crop of leaders that will lead and direct the affairs of this country in the legislative and executive arms of the federal and state governments. Eze called on the people to make informed choices that will consolidate the gains of Gov. Umahi in Ebonyi State.
Commending the people for for acknowledging the feats of Governor Umahi and in consideration of the fact that one good turn deserves another, Eze appealed to the people of Ebonyi South at large to pass a vote of confidence and adopt a tentative agreement on endorsement of Gov. Umahi as sole candidate of all the political parties for the Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone.
The decision, he said, will be the most appropriate way of expressing gratitude, as the reward for good work is more work. Having emancipated Ebonyi state from the doldrums, Gov. Umahi deserves an accolade that could best be described as reward for his good deeds and that can be achieved by sending him to the Senate to propose laws that will help replicate his wonderful works in Ebonyi across Nigeria.
Eze, a member of the APC Legacy Projects Media Team highlighted some of the feats that Ebonyians should consider and allow this man who knows the road very well to represent the State at the Red Chambers to influence greater and better projects to the State.
Some of these projects that places Umahi top amongst his peers are as follows:
Before 2015, Ebonyi was the least developed state, but today, the State is the shining light, not to the Southeast alone, but to the entire federation. And anybody who likes good things will curse the man who speaks against the governor. The man has sleepless nights to make Ebonyi an emerging city. Today, we are proud that the governor has removed our inferiority complex and made us have a sense of self-worth and actualisation. We are all happy everywhere we go. We have a blessing in the person of our governor.
Today under the sterling leadership of Gov Umahi, Ebonyi has the best network of roads, just within seven years, beating every other state in the Southeast. The state can boast of about 13 to 14 flyovers, coming first after Abuja and Lagos. Come to Ebonyi state, you will see Africa’s biggest shopping mall, housing about 5,000 shops, which are being redistributed to our people and investors who come to the state.
Today, the governor has launched us into the comity of the best 10 states in the federation in education. In 2017, NUC made an education analysis about the local governments in the whole federation with the highest number of people getting admission into university. A local government in Ebonyi State came first. In the same year, NUC made an assessment of medical students that took JAMB and somebody that came from Ebonyi came first in the whole federation. In the area of education, we have done quite a lot. An Ebonyi student can compete fantastically well with any other person from other states.
The idea of the governor is to create fascinating economic facilities that will create jobs to give our people the opportunity for self-reliance and sufficiency. The shopping mall is going to give not less than 10, 000 direct and indirect jobs to our people. And it is the best shopping mall in Africa. The airport is under construction and by the power of God, it will be completed and commissioned before we hand over the reins of Governance to the incoming APC Government . It is going to give a lot of jobs to our people. It is not just going to be an ordinary airport. It is fashioned after Abuja and Lagos international airports and our concept is Ethiopian air business. It will be generating a lot of revenues, employment and wealth.
The university of medical sciences is going to be a centre of excellence for the treatment of liver problems, cancer and heart diseases. It is going to be a centre of excellence for the management of dialysis, which we don’t have anywhere in Africa. Incidentally, it has been handed over to the Catholic Bishops conference for ownership and management. We believe in the discipline of these organised private sectors. We believe in the best standard that they can give.
The ecumenical centre is like heaven on earth. It is a multifunctional centre. Apart from providing for the spiritual enrichment of our people, it is going to be a money-spinner because it is going to be hosting international conferences and corporate meetings. The interesting thing about this is that our people who have spiritual issues, when they go to the ecumenical centre to seek the face of God, God will hear their prayers. So, it is one of our best legacies.
The governor made us have an 80 metric tonne capacity fertilizer blending plant, the biggest in the Southeast. It has engaged not less than 2,000 workers – direct and indirect jobs. And it is participating in the presidential rice initiative. Ebonyi is one of the three largest producers of rice, all of these empowered by our dear governor’s programmes on agriculture.
If an individual can achieve all these within eight years why should we not collectively support for him for higher office at least to motivate, encourage him to do more for the State
