ZULUM DECLARES EIGHT DAYS HOLIDAY FOR BORNO SCHOOLS

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state, has declared eight days holiday for schools to enable staff and eligible students to exercise their civic rights during the 2023 general elections.

According to him, the holidays are to allow the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) use the Schools as collation centres of the forthcoming elections.

The Commissioner of Education, Lawan Wakilbe, disclosed in a statement, yesterday (Monday), in Maiduguri that; “I’m directed to release an addendum to the 2022/2023 school calendar by directing eight days of holidays during the forthcoming 2023 General Elections.

“The Governor has approved an addendum to the Schools Calendar, by declaring eight days holiday for forthcoming general elections in the State.”

He said the holidays are slated between Thursday, February 23 to Wednesday, March 1, 2023 for the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

According to him, the holidays continue from March 9 to Wednesday, March 15, 2023 to participate in the Gubernatorial and State Assembly elections.
