Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe state has donated two each of houses and hajj seats for winning the National Quranic Recitation (NQR) competition in Zamfara State.
The 37th recitation champion, Aisha Abdulmutallib and her husband, are to collect a cheque of N4 million and keys to the two donated houses for making the state proud.
Presenting the cheques and keys to the houses, yesterday (Friday), in Damaturu, the Governor disclosed: “I commended the staff of the State’s Arabic and Islamic Board and teachers for Aisha to emerge the champion of the Quranic recitation.
He said: “I also approved Hajj seats to staff of Arabic and Islamic Board and teachers of the Islamic school that attended the recitation competition feat,” he said.
He said that the winner, a native of Potiskum local Council had done the State proud, noting that the State’s Emergency Initiative on Education in 2019 has yielded good results.
According to him, the donation of houses and Hajj seats to boost the champion’s morale and her families.
Besides, he added: “In making the State proud, government will sponsor her education to the school of her choice.”
Meanwhile, she has also been appointed as the Liaison Officer representing the state any part of the country.
He noted that these championship recitation feats, encourages the state government to continue implement policies and programmes to promote both Western and Islamic education.
The Commissioner for Education, Basic and Secondary Education, Mohammad Idris appealed the Governor for additional Hajj seats for the board members and the school.
Responding, Aisha urged other students and prospective participants to dedicate to their studies in winning future recitation competitions.
Buni, therefore, named the completed Nguru Modern Market (NMM) after Sheikh Ngibirma to immortalize the cleric for Islamic education in the state.
